Help is free, confidential, and available 24/7.

If gambling has stopped being fun — if you're chasing losses, hiding it from people who care about you, or wagering money you can't afford to lose — the resources below can help. None of them cost anything. None of them require you to give your real name.

The fastest way to get help is to talk. The three organisations below run 24/7 free helplines and chat services.

Self-exclusion tools

Self-exclusion lets you block yourself from gambling sites for a set period (months to years). It's the single most effective intervention if you've decided you need a break.

  • GAMSTOP (UK-licensed sites): one signup blocks you across every UK-licensed gambling operator for 6 months, 1 year, or 5 years.
  • Self-exclusion at the site level: every reputable gambling site has an in-account self-exclusion option. It's usually buried — look under Account → Responsible Gambling.
  • Bank-level blocks: most major UK banks (Monzo, Starling, HSBC, Lloyds, Barclays, NatWest) let you block all gambling transactions from your card with a single toggle in their app. Many European and US banks now offer the same.

Signs it might be time to stop

  • You're betting more than you set out to, more often than you planned.
  • You're chasing losses — betting bigger to win it back.
  • You're borrowing money, or moving money you'd earmarked for bills, to fund gambling.
  • You're hiding the extent of your gambling from people who care about you.
  • You feel anxious, irritable, or low when you try to cut down.
  • Gambling is the first thing on your mind when you wake up.

Any one of these is worth taking seriously. Two or more is a strong signal to use the resources on this page.

Age

Every site we list is for adults aged 18 or older (21+ in some jurisdictions). If you are under that age, please leave any gambling site you have visited and do not return.
